The Tshwane Economic Development Agency (TEDA), in partnership with the South African Electrotechnical Export Council (SAEEC), proudly hosted the 2025 instalment of the SMME Symposium on 6 May 2025, under the theme “Township economy – Building future industries”.
Small, medium, and micro enterprises (SMMEs) provide employment and foster inclusive growth and social upliftment, making them not only agents of change but also weavers of economic and social progress.
For this reason, TEDA partnered with SAEEC, The Innovation Hub, and Standard Bank to showcase the capabilities, innovations, and growth potential of local SMMEs, which account for a significant portion of employment in the city.
The 2025 SMME Symposium emphasised fostering partnerships, unlocking market access, and promoting sustainable business practices between local SMMEs and multiple stakeholders. This year’s event saw
significant participation with 20 SMMEs exhibiting, up from 15 in 2023. It also featured eight information desks hosted by major corporations, financial institutions, and government departments.
