The September 2026 TEDA News Bulletin from the Tshwane Economic Development Agency covers its work supporting local businesses and young people. In May, TEDA and Tshwane University of Technology onboarded the 2025 Tshwane Women in Business winners into TUT’s Enterprise and Supplier Development programme, which gives them access to the university’s procurement spend. The programme is in its sixth edition and has supported more than 150 entrepreneurs. Later that month, TEDA and the Automotive Industry Development Centre held an Automotive Open Day in Eersterust for Youth Month, covering careers, township auto businesses and electric-vehicle skills. In July, following up on a challenge from Executive Mayor Dr Nasiphi Moya, TEDA and TUT ran a B2B matchmaking session. More than 200 entrepreneurs applied, and participants got one-on-one meetings with corporate buyers.

On investment and infrastructure, Board Chair Paul Serote presented Tshwane’s property pipeline at the eThekwini Property Conference in Durban. He highlighted a model that leases municipal land rather than selling it, which already brings in about R69 million a year. TEDA also held the invite-only Tshwane Infrastructure Roundtable on 13 July. There, Dr Moya called for a portfolio of funding models, and development finance institutions set out what makes projects bankable. The key point is that upgrading three water and wastewater plants (Rooiwal, Baviaanspoort and Roodeplaat) could unlock over R100 billion in private investment across five major projects, including Thorntree View and the Five O’Clock Development. For the 2025–26 financial year, TEDA reports attracting R6.229 billion in investment, well above its R2 billion target, along with 23 qualified leads and 41 companies supported with exports.

On trade, TEDA led a mission to Yaoundé, Cameroon, in June with three local firms, and a mission to Nairobi, Kenya, in August with Wesgro. The Kenya trip included an SA–Kenya Business Seminar and B2B meetings. Its 2026/27 target is to help at least 80 Tshwane companies generate R50 million in trade sales. TEDA also attended a PPP-themed golf day in Centurion and the SIDSSA infrastructure symposium in Cape Town. The bulletin closes with staff news: a tribute to the late Moira Motsei Mekoe, farewells to Kenneth Masilane and Kholiswa Moncho, and six new hires.
