Destination marketing is the newest addition to the business portfolio of the
Tshwane Economic Development Agency (TEDA). Our mandate expanded in 2019 to
include marketing Tshwane for tourism and investment. The function that was
migrated from the City of Tshwane and now falls within TEDA’s mandate.
Tshwane has a unique blend of tourist attractions that include heritage sites,
biodiversity and cultural and sport attractions that appeal to a wide range of
tourists. There are also many conference and hospitality facilities in Tshwane,
and it has the capacity to host events. All of this is supported by a growing
public transport infrastructure that includes the Gautrain, the A Re Yeng rapid
transit system and Tshwane Bus Services.
Tshwane is South Africa’s seat of government. It is an African knowledge capital with a high concentration of innovation, academic and research institutions. It is also a diplomatic capital that houses more than 130 embassies and foreign missions. This unique combination of attributes provides a compelling reason to visit and do business in the capital city of South Africa.
The Destination Marketing Division promotes Tshwane as a preferred destination for business, tourism and events to domestic, regional and international markets in order to increase economic growth in Tshwane.
