The City of Tshwane is proud to announce the Tshwane Women in Business Awards 2025, a prestigious initiative dedicated to celebrating and supporting the remarkable achievements of women-owned businesses.
Organised and hosted by the Tshwane Economic Development Agency (TEDA), this annual event underscores the Cityʼs commitment to fostering economic growth, innovation, and empowerment by recognising the contributions of women entrepreneurs who are driving positive change in the local economy.
“TWIBA is a celebration of the incredible women we have in our capital city, who continue to overcome systemic barriers from access to funding and access to markets to balancing business with family and care responsibilities, and still, these women choose to lead, build and innovate,” says TEDA CEO Dr Lardo Stander.
The awards ceremony will take place on 30 September 2025.
The Tshwane Women in Business Awards 2025 aims to spotlight women-led enterprises that demonstrate excellence, resilience, and innovation while making a tangible impact on job creation, community development, and economic transformation throughout the City of Tshwane.
“We see women excelling in agribusiness, green energy, manufacturing, property and technology sectors that are shaping the future of our economy,” Dr Stander adds.
“That is why the City is intentional about enabling access through public procurement, digital platforms and partnerships that open doors for women entrepreneurs.”
By providing a platform for recognition, mentorship, and networking, the awards seek to empower women entrepreneurs to scale their businesses, access new markets, and contribute even more significantly to the regionʼs prosperity.

Why it matters
Women-owned businesses are a cornerstone of the City of Tshwaneʼs economic landscape, contributing to job creation, innovation, and community upliftment.
According to recent studies, women-led enterprises in South Africa are key drivers of inclusive growth, yet they often face barriers such as limited access to funding and markets.
The Tshwane Women in Business Awards 2025 are designed to break down these barriers by providing recognition, resources, and opportunities for women entrepreneurs to thrive.
